Moore case now at three weeks

GREENVILLE — It has now been three weeks since a Greenville teenager disappeared, with no recent developments reported in the hunt for her killer.

A reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whomever murdered Alicia Chanta Moore continues to grow, with donations also coming in for a fund to assist Moore’s family.

“I’ve got $25,000 hard money on the reward,” said Mark Cobb with Kids R Kids Learning Academy in McKinney, where Moore’s aunt Jessica Byrd is employed, referring to the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whomever killed Moore. “My main concern, obviously, is to find whoever did this. But after that, it is for the memorial fund to help out the family.”

Cobb has offered $5,000, Greenville Chrysler Jeep Dodge is also offering $10,000, Kids R Kids International has put up another $5,000, with $5,000 in additional donations being made in the past week.

A fund benefiting the Moore family has risen to $3,500, including $1,000 contributions from Cobb and the dealership.

Cobb is also wanting to spread the word about the reward fund, through billboards, which are now scheduled to be installed during the first week of December.

One of the billboards will be placed along westbound Interstate 30, near the intersection of Farm Road 1570, while the other will be placed along eastbound U.S. Highway 380 near McKinney.

Those wishing to contribute to either the reward fund or the benefit account for the Moore family can send donations to Kids R Kids Learning Academy, 9070 Westridge Boulevard, McKinney, 75070. Byrd has indicated that donations to either the memorial fund or reward fund can also be made at American National Bank.

The Greenville Police Department indicated that as of Wednesday there was no additional information to release concerning Moore’s case.

Moore was last seen on the afternoon of Nov. 2 getting off of a school bus at the intersection of Bourland and Walnut Streets in Greenville, about a half-block from her home. Her body was found November 6 along FM 47 in Van Zandt County.

The Greenville Police Department is reported to be working alongside the Hunt County District Attorney, Van Zandt County District Attorney, Texas Rangers and the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office in conducting the investigation.

Greenville Police Chief Dan Busken has indicated that it is still an ongoing investigation. Anyone who may have any information concerning the case is being asked to contact the police department at 903-457-2900 or, to remain anonymous, Hunt County Crime Stoppers at 903-457-2929.

Officers with the police department and the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office joined agents with the FBI on November 16 to canvass the area where Moore was last seen. The officers went door to door and stopped vehicles to ask if anyone had information concerning the case.

Hunt County Crime Stoppers has also posted a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Moore’s death.
