Not guilty plea in stolen ambulance case

GREENVILLE — A local man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of felony theft, for allegedly stealing an ambulance.

During a Monday morning hearing in the 354th District Court, Chad Lamar Skinner, 41, of Greenville, was arraigned on an indictment of theft of property of the value of between $100,000 and $200,000. Judge Richard A. Beacom accepted Skinner’s plea and scheduled an interim hearing for Feb. 13.

The indictment alleged Skinner stole an ambulance belonging to American Medical Response on February 16, 2012. The indictment was issued sealed by the Hunt County grand jury in December, pending Skinner’s arrest and arraignment on the charge. The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office took Skinner into custody on Jan. 18.

The charge is a second degree felony, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from two to 20 years in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.
