A return to winter today

GREENVILLE — Friday was sunny and warm across North Texas.

It was nice while it lasted.

After a high of 70 degrees was recorded in Greenville Friday, Hunt County is in line for a big change in the weather, starting today, including another shot of rain and a return to more seasonable — meaning colder — temperatures.

The National Weather Service forecast was calling for a slight chance of showers early this morning, with a low overnight of around 53.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely today, with the temperature rising to about 57 degrees by lunchtime, then falling to the mid-40s by the evening. Winds will be shifting out of the north with the arrival of the cold front and could gust as high as 20 mph.

There is another 50 percent chance of showers before midnight under cloudy skies and with a low around 32. Winds will be out of the north northwest and gusting up to 25 mph.

It is predicted to be mostly cloudy Sunday, with a high near 44 and with winds gusting out of the north at up to 20 mph.
