Bingo slated to come to Greenville next month

GREENVILLE — Don’t forget to cover the free space.

The first legal benefit bingo game in Greenville is scheduled next month.

The Greenville Lions Club has a bingo game set for 6:30 p.m., April 13, at the Landmark, 2920 Lee Street. The cost will be $15 per card per hour, with 10 rounds planned per hour during the two-hour session.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, with a grand prize offered during the last round of the night.

Those wanting more information or wanting to reserve a table can call 903-413-0304.

The event will be the first conducted locally since voters in Greenville approved allowing charitable organizations to conduct organized bingo games as fundraisers in the May 2011 municipal election.

The vote total was 516 (70.1 percent) votes for the games to 220 (29.9 percent) votes against.

Greenville is the only city in Hunt County to be legally able to conduct bingo games for charity, although the games are allowed in nearby communities such as Sulphur Springs, Paris, Garland and Gun Barrel City.
