The cooler weather is certainly nice, but with it comes an increased danger of rapidly spreading fires.
Local drought numbers have begun to creep back into the severe territory and a large fire near Quinlan Friday afternoon revealed just how rapidly a controlled burn can get out of control.
There are no current plans to reinstitute a ban on outdoor burning in Hunt County, although Director of Homeland Security Richard Hill said he is monitoring the conditions.
“We’ll be watching that Keetch-Byram,” Hill said. “We’ll watch that and see what the levels are.”
