GREENVILLE —
The Hunt County Court Commissioners Tuesday approved Jacobia Water Supply Corporation to submit a Texas Community Development Block Grant for $500,000 to replace aging water lines.
“This is going to replace 26,000 feet of water lines and pumps to increase water pressure in that area,” Cloy Richards, who works for a consulting agency representing Combined Consumers said.
Susan Lanning, executive director of Audie Murphy Cotton Museum, brought forth a proposal to refurbish the driveway leading to the museum.
“We just don’t have the funds to do this,” she said.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Jim Latham said he would approve this under some considerations.
“I approve this but take it from the contingency fund and get this set up for the next commissioners court,” he said. “We’ll be more than glad to haul the material, it’s a matter of funding.”
Because of state regulations requiring a driveway that has more than two structures on it, the court approved the naming of a driveway of Farm-to- Market Road 512.
“The driveway has two houses and are adding another,” Jackie Ray, 911 coordinator said. “They chose to name it Gardner Lane.”
Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks updated the court on the inmate housing in the jail.
“Proud to report to you that we have the federal inmates back,” Meeks said. “With those 40 federal inmates, it is estimated that we’ll bring in half a million dollars in revenue for the county coffers.”
