Tip leads to two more burglary arrests

GREENVILLE — For the second time in a week, a tip from the public helped the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office capture two suspects who allegedly broke into a residence.

The latest individuals also found themselves stuck in the mud outside of the home which had just been burglarized.

Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks reported Friday that his office received a phone call Wednesday in reference to two suspects removing items from a  house located in the 8000 block of FM 118, near the South Sulphur community.

Upon arrival, Hunt County Sheriff’s Deputy Baret Sanders made contact with the suspects, who were stuck in the mud in the front yard of the victim’s residence. Further investigation revealed what appeared to be property removed from the residence in the suspect’s vehicle, including two space heaters and copper wiring.

Investigators were called to the scene to assist and process the crime scene. Subsequently, the two suspects were taken into custody for the offense of burglary of a habitation and transported to the Hunt County Detention Center where they were booked in without incident.

The suspects were identified as Moses Larome Miller, 32, of Greenville and Michael Keith Mize, 28, of Commerce. Miller’s bail was set at $35,000 and Mize’s bail was set at $30,000.

Both suspects remained in custody Friday at the Hunt County Criminal Justice Center.

“Two times within a week, with the assistance of citizens, Deputy Sanders has arrested four burglary suspects,” Meeks said. “We are committed to serving the citizens of this great county and to put these thieves behind bars where they belong.”
