GREENVILLE —
The project to rebuild Traders Road should be finished in the next few weeks.
Director of Public Works Massoud Ebrahim said construction is wrapping up on the north side of the roadway.
“Hopefully they will complete the north part by the end of July,” Ebrahim said.
The $3.31 million project began in July 2011. Work on the south side of the road was completed early this year, but Ebrahim said it will need some touch ups.
“There were a few sections which did not pass the test, and we are going to go back and repave those sections,” Ebrahim said. “It is not going to take long, maybe a month or so.”
Traders Road, which runs between Jack Finney Boulevard/FM 1570 and Wesley Street/State Highway 34, has an average daily traffic count of approximately 5,000 vehicles, but had never been upgraded from its original “county road” paved condition.
The improvement project called for a four-lane, 48 foot wide concrete roadway with curb and gutter and underground storm sewer/drainage.
