Krodle Car Show next week

GREENVILLE — Lovers of automobiles, both current and classic, will likely find what they are looking for during the upcoming Roger Krodle Memorial Car Show.

The show, one of the biggest benefit car shows in North Texas, typically draws hundreds of entrants, with proceeds from the event going to benefit the Hunt County Special Olympics Booster Club. This year’s show is scheduled next Saturday, July 14 and is sponsored by Pam Stahr with Texas Farm Bureau Insurance.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., with judging starting at 11 a.m. and the awards presented at 2 p.m.

First and second places will be awarded in 19 classes of automobiles, from antiques to 90s and Up cars and trucks, with special prizes awarded for best car, best truck, best rat rod, best of show, Krodle Family pick and Special Olympics pick. There is a $15 registration fee and dash plaques will be given to the first 100 paid registrants.

Krodle himself was an automobile enthusiast. A plumbing contractor and member of the Greenville Antique Car Club, Krodle died in July 2003. His favorites were included as part of his funeral service and the memorial show came about after his wife mentioned she was going to miss attending the events.
