Jury indicts former Quinlan teacher

A former teacher for the Quinlan Independent School District has been indicted for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student.

Jennifer Renae Hayes resigned from the district shortly after the  incident was first reported.

The Hunt County grand jury issued one indictment Friday, with one count each of improper relationship between educator and student and sexual assault of a child.

The indictment allege Hayes, 26, of Caddo Mills, engaged in sex with a male of less than 17 years of age and a student at Ford High School on or about Oct.28.

Hayes was reported to have resigned her position with the district on Nov. 5.

The charge was one of 66 indictments issued by the grand jury Friday, including 23 indictments issued sealed pending the arrest and arraignment of the person or persons named in the charges.
