GREENVILLE —
A public meeting is scheduled this evening concerning a proposed plan to extend FM 1570.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is hosting the “open house” session along with Hunt County and the City of Greenville. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center in Greenville.
The proposed extension of FM 1570 between State Highway 66 and U.S. Highway 380 was included as part of the Small Area Plan adopted last year by the Greenville City Council and the Hunt County Commissioners Court.
The Small Area Plan is expected to not only help guide development over a wide region of the western edge of the city, but also along the Interstate 30 corridor, and will play a role in setting standards for a proposed giant municipal utility district between Greenville and Commerce.
The FM 1570 extension project would consist of the construction of approximately a two-mile stretch of four-lane divided roadway. TxDOT has indicated that at this point, no alignment for the roadway has been determined, and that the agency is considering a number of potential options.
Today’s meeting is designed to allow the public to comment on issues of concern.
