Community awards to be presented Saturday

GREENVILLE — A local patriotic organization will be honoring several Hunt County residents this weekend; for their service, their citizenship and their heroism.

The Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter of the Texas Society Sons of the American Revolution is hosting the Community Service Awards ceremony Saturday morning in the Community Room of the W. Walworth Harrison Library, No. 1 Lou Finney Lane, in Greenville.

Wendell Edwards, president of the organization, said refreshments will be served at 10:15 a.m. and the ceremony will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The public is invited to attend.

The individuals who will be recognized include:

— Emergency Medical Service Award: Shawn Wells, Emergency Medical Technician with Hunt County EMS.

— Law Enforcement Award: Assistant District Attorney Keli Aiken

— Fire Safety Award: Greenville Fire Department Fire Marshal Greg McDonald

— Heroism Award: Hunt County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Radney and Investigator Kelly Phillips

— Bronze Good Citizenship Award: Shannon Fulp, fifth grade science teacher at Carver Elementary School in Greenville
