Five charged with organized criminal activity, theft

GREENVILLE — Multiple suspects were arrested late last week on charges of engaging in organized crime.

The five individuals were also charged with theft, after they were taken into custody Friday afternoon.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to 216 calls between Friday morning and Sunday night, took 21 people into custody and filed 58 reports.

Briana Frances Dillon, 21, of Greenville; Megan Dawn Chantel-McCallum, 23, of Sulphur Springs; Christopher Lee Ragland, 28 of Quinlan; Richard Earl Shafer, 23, of Greenville; and Phillip Shiflett, 27, of Caddo Mills, were arrested Friday afternoon on one count each of engaging in organized criminal activity and theft of property of the value of more than $500, but less than $1,500.

All five individuals remained in custody at the Hunt County Jail as of Monday morning.

No additional details were immediately available.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department also made nine arrests on outstanding warrants. Two people each were arrested for possession of marijuana and driving while license suspended, and one person each was arrested for assault by contact, injury to a child and public intoxication.

Deputies with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 114 calls, took 14 people into custody and filed 27 reports.

The arrests included nine people on outstanding warrants and one person each for assault, possession of a controlled substance, false drug test, failure to register as sex offender and no seat belt.
