Special Friends Harvest Fest planned for Oct. 13

GREENVILLE — A Special Friends Harvest Fest featuring games, food and fun has been scheduled Oct. 13 for all persons in the community who are mentally or physically challenged.

The event will be from 5 to 8 p.m. in the gym at Highland Terrace Baptist Church, 3939 Joe Ramsey Blvd. It is sponsored as an outreach from the Sunday School ministry’s Special Ed department.

The Harvest Fest is free to all special needs people in the area but they must be accompanied by family members or a guardian. The evening will be a time for fellowship and interaction with other special ed persons and their families.

Hot dogs, nachos, baked beans, pumpkin pie and iced tea will be featured, along with games, face painting, pumpkin carving, crafts and a hay ride.

Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by Oct. 10 so that enough food can be provided. Call Dee Sindle, 903-456-3429.

Highland Terrace Baptist Church’s special ed ministry, which is directed by Dee and Bobby Sindle, was begun about 33 years ago. It initially served three people but has grown to include about 60 people ranging in age from 18 to 72 years.
