GREENVILLE —
Hunt County health officials is reporting only one new case of an individual infected with the West Nile virus in the past 10 days.
“We have had one more,” said Pam Andrews with the Hunt County Health Department. “We are up to 15 so far”
The agency had received 12 reports of individuals with the virus across the county as of the end of August, and 14 cases as of September 14.
No fatalities associated with the West Nile virus and no clusters of cases in Hunt County.
The City of Commerce Emergency Management staff has worked with Hunt County to create a web site, www.westnile.info, designed to provide information about the West Nile virus.
The City of Commerce is scheduled to continue spraying sections of the city each night through next Friday, October 4.
The City of Greenville has switched to targeted spraying for mosquitoes. The entire community has been sprayed at least three times with some areas having received additional treatment.
The City of Greenville has also established a web page concerning mosquito control at www.ci.greenville.tx.us/FightTheBite.
