Local woman arrested for murder

GREENVILLE — A Greenville woman has been arrested and booked into the Hunt County Jail on a charge of murder.

Sheryl Ann Jackson, 24, was taken into custody Monday and arraigned on the charge this morning. Bond was set at $250,000 by J. P. Wayne Money.

Sheriff Randy Meeks told the Herald-Banner the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division arrested Jackson.

"This case is being investigated by the Greenville Police Department," Meeks said.

Jackson is allleged to have left an infant child unattended in a vehicle for more than two hours in December, then to have failed to report the incident to a physician for two days, resulting in the child's death, according to an indictment issued last month by the Hunt County grand jury.

The indictment was issued sealed pending Jackson's arrest and details the murder as an act of family violence.
