GREENVILLE —
A burglary indictment filed against a Tarrant County man, shot during a reported break-in, has been dismissed.
Taurs Dwight Jones of Arlington had entered a plea of not guilty to an indictment of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault.
Jury selection in Jones’ trial was scheduled Tuesday in the 354th District Court.
The Hunt County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion with the court Tuesday morning, seeking the dismissal of the charge at the request of the reporting party.
Jones was wounded during the March 13, 2011 incident at a local apartment.
The resident of the apartment reported that Jones came in and began to assault another person who was visiting him.
The resident, who was also assaulted, retrieved a firearm to protect himself.
During the confrontation Jones was shot once.
