GREENVILLE —
Hundreds of pirates, zombies, witches and superheroes swarmed through downtown Greenville Wednesday evening, taking part in the 13th Annual Halloween on the Square.
Lee, Stonewall, Washington and Johnson Streets bordering the Hunt County Courthouse were closed and many of the downtown businesses opened their doors for trick-or-treaters.
Live music was performed by Bad Moon Rising and Mike Castleberry, while tables were set up offering everything from cotton candy to popcorn, air brush tattoos, face painting and, of course, lots and lots of candy.
The past two years have seen crowd estimates of at least 1,000 people, with the numbers comparable this year as children and their parents took advantage of sun, blue skies and temperatures well into the 70s.
The Greenville High School Robowranglers brought out their latest creation and there were no shortage of games to keep the visitors occupied.
Wednesday was also the last night of The Haunted Landmark, a project of the Greenville Rotary Club, inside the Landmark on Lee Street, while the Greenville Chamber of Commerce conducted a final Ghost Walk tour of historic landmarks, many of whom reportedly having ghostly connections.
