GREENVILLE —
A California man has waived arraignment to an indictment charging him with allegedly dumping bags full of marijuana across Hunt County.
Darin William Fayne appeared with his attorney in the 354th District Court Monday morning, where he waived a formal arraignment proceeding and entered a plea of not guilty. Judge Richard A. Beacom set a tentative trial date for March 11, 2013.
Fayne was indicted by the Hunt County grand jury in September with one count of possession of marijuana in an amount of between 50 and 2,000 pounds.
Fayne, 46, of Coarsegold, California, is free on bond after being arrested two years ago.
Six duffel bags believed connected to a plane abandoned early the morning of July 19, 2010 at the Caddo Mills Municipal Airport have been recovered. The street value of the more than 200 pounds of hydroponic marijuana has been estimated at up to $1.5 million.
