GEUS board honoring retiree, talking about impersonators, lawsuit

GREENVILLE — The GEUS board intends this week to say thank you to a departing trustee and move to appoint a new member.

The board also plans to hear a report on individuals allegedly impersonating its employees, and discuss a pending lawsuit involving a drowning on a local reservoir.

The GEUS board of trustees is scheduled to meet in regular session at 6 p.m. Thursday in the GEUS Operations Center, 6000 Joe Ramsey Boulevard.

During the meeting, the board is set to pass a resolution to approve and qualify a nominee for the position of Place 4 and also will recognize retiring board member Richard Bays.

Last week, GEUS issued a warning indicating reports had been received of two men stating they are electric utility workers in order to gain access to the inside of people’s homes and the utility asked for the public’s assistance in finding the suspects.

The board is to receive a report on the situation Thursday from Consumer Services Manager Jimmy Dickey.

The board also intends to convene under Section 551.071 of the Local Government Code, which allows for an attorney consultation, in this case involving the Ledaro Micky lawsuit.

The parents of a boy who drowned at a City of Greenville municipal reservoir last June have sued the city and GEUS. Tireiger Micky and Echensia Hassan are suing for damages in the June 11, 2012 death of 3 year-old Ledaro Micky.

Neither the City of Greenville nor GEUS had filed a response to the suit, and no hearings have been scheduled as of Tuesday.
