Evans files for City Council

GREENVILLE — A third person has filed, seeking one of two positions open on the Greenville City Council in the upcoming election.

James Evans filed Monday seeking the Place 2 seat on the Council. Evans is the first candidate to announce for the Place 2 position.

Dan Perkins and Tyson Cox have filed seeking the Place 1 seat on the Council, which is currently held by Perkins, in the May 11 election.

Places 1 and 2 on the Council will be decided. Dr. Joe Perks serves in Place 2 and is eligible to run again but has not formally announced whether he intends to seek reelection.

Candidate packets are available in the City Secretary’s Office at 2821 Washington Street.

March 1 is the last day to file for a spot on the ballot.

April 11 is the last day to register to vote for the election, with early voting scheduled April 29-May 7.
