GREENVILLE —
Hunt County has seen multiple cases of individuals infected with the West Nile virus, including a Greenville child who developed severe complications from the disease.
The Hunt County Health Department reported Monday that four people from Hunt County had been confirmed as contracting the virus. Officials said there had been no local deaths connected to West Nile.
Rene Lowe said her 4 year-old grandson spent a week in the hospital due to the virus.
“Kash was a very, very ill little boy,” she said. “He has West Nile Virus which caused meningitis and encephalitis. His only symptoms were a low grade fever and he vomited twice.”
