Not guilty pleas to home invasion robbery indictments

GREENVILLE — Two local men have pleaded not guilty to charges of armed robbery, in connection with a reported home invasion in Greenville in August.

Damontreous Deuntay Williams, 28, and Payton Ryan Loya, 20, both of Greenville, were indicted last month by the Hunt County grand jury on one count each of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary of a habitation with intent to commit theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Loya entered not guilty pleas Wednesday and Williams pleaded not guilty Thursday during hearings in the 354th District Court. Judge Richard Beacom scheduled tentative trial dates for the defendants for January 14, 2013.

Williams, 28, and Loya, 20, both of Greenville, each received one indictment for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

The indictments allege Loya acted alongside Williams, who was arrested at around 12:30 p.m. August 11 and was alleged to have forced his way into a home, to have held a gun to the head of a female victim while in the course of committing a theft and to have stolen the victim’s vehicle.

The aggravated robbery indictments are first degree felonies, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of up to life in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.
