GREENVILLE —
City of Greenville Fire Department units will be responding to the scene of a major chemical spill Monday morning.
Fortunately, it will only be a test.
Toby McNellis with the fire department said a hazardous materials drill will be conducted at the Water Treatment Plant, 501 Wesley Street.
“We’re probably going to try and get started at around 8 a.m.,” McNellis said, adding that anyone listening on an emergency scanner radio might get a little concerned about what they are hearing.
“It will sound like a real chlorine disaster is going on,” McNellis said. “But all it is going to be is just a training drill.”
McNellis said the exercise is expected to last about one hour.
