GREENVILLE —
The Greenville Independent School District Board of Trustees is seeking a slight decrease in its property tax rate.
Even though the proposed tax rate is lower than last year, it would raise the district’s property taxes on an average home in Greenville by $16.93. It also is set at the rollback rate, the highest that can be passed without having to call for an election.
Greenville ISD Director of Community Services Kelli Tharp explained that a story in Thursday’s Herald-Banner indicating the district was raising the tax rate was in error.
