Superintendent: iPad initiative to save GISD money

GREENVILLE — Instead of carrying around backpacks full of textbooks, Greenville High School students will be carrying a lot less due to the iPad initiative.

“Last spring I decided I wanted to put an iPad in the hands of every high school student,” Greenville Independent School District Superintendent Don Jefferies said. “Legislators decided it was best to let schools buy books that they wanted to buy, so we are using part of those funds for our students to have iPads.”

According to Jefferies, he wanted to go ahead with the iPad initiative because he said it caters to every learning style that kids have.
