GREENVILLE —
The local electric utility system is warning residents of a scam involving individuals posing as GEUS employees.
GEUS Consumer Services Manager Jimmy Dickey issued a notice Monday, indicating reports had been received of two men stating they are electric utility workers in order to gain access to the inside of people’s homes.
“Other than GEUS Cable TV & Internet Technicians with appointments, GEUS employees have no reason to enter someone’s home”, Dickey said. “Access should be denied to GEUS impersonators and the police called immediately.”
Dickey said GEUS employees wear uniforms with logos and drive white vehicles clearly marked as GEUS.
The utility is asking for the public’s assistance in finding the suspects.
Anyone who may have information concerning the situation, or who may need to confirm a GEUS employee’s identification, is being asked to contact GEUS at 903-457-2888.
