GREENVILLE — The Kaufman County District Attorney's Office released the following update this afternoon, concerning the investigation into last week's murder of Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse:
As of this morning February 5, 2013, investigators from nine agencies are working around the clock on Mr. Hasse’s case: Kaufman Police Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, Kaufman County Constables, Kaufman District Attorney’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Marshals.
Chief Chris Aulbaugh, along with Sheriff David Byrnes would like to thank all the surrounding agencies that have offered support and assistance as needed.
Communities from around the County have rallied around the Hasse family as well as law enforcement agencies working on this investigation. Your generous donations of food, service and support have been greatly appreciated.
This is an ongoing investigation; we are actively reviewing and investigating all credible leads. A review of Mr. Hasse’s current and former cases is underway and investigators are communicating with his personal and professional associates. A Forensics team is actively processing all evidence collected from the crime scene.
Investigators have also been thorough in their collection and review of area surveillance video and continue to evaluate additional locations for video retrieval.
Investigators continue to look for an older model, Taurus-style sedan; silver or possibly brown in color. Suspect information stands at this time as one or two suspects, possibly dressed in black.
Sheriff David Byrnes and Chief Chris Aulbaugh would like the citizens of Kaufman County to understand and be aware that security is being stepped up throughout the community. They are asking that you be aware of your surroundings, always err on the side of caution, and never hesitate to call 9-1-1 for assistance.
