Substandard structures board to meet

GREENVILLE — A city board intends to begin the new year by making decisions on whether four local buildings need to be torn down in 2013.

The Substandard Structures Rehabilitation Board is scheduled to meet in regular session at 5:15 p.m. Monday, January 7 in the Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street.

During the meeting, the board will conduct public hearings to determine the necessity of repair or demolition to the structures at 4510 Spencer Street, 4103 Morrison Street, 1101 Sayle Street and 1801 Sayle Street.

The board is also scheduled to review the status of currently condemned properties.

The Substandard Structures Rehabilitation Board is a five member board appointed by the Greenville City Council and has the power to require the vacation of a structure that is hazardous to the health, safety and welfare of the occupants.

The board may require the repair or demolition of a structure and issue orders to any peace officer of the State of Texas to enforce the orders of the board.
