GREENVILLE —
Next month area residents will again be displaying talents before an audience, as they put on show to raise money for a local service agency.
They will be singing, dancing and telling jokes, providing entertainment and helping out a good cause.
In short, the Follies have returned.
Follies 2013, “Shaken with a Twist of Sublime” is scheduled April 26-27 at Greenville Municipal Auditorium.
The Meet the Director Party is set for 7 p.m. April 2 at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center, 5501 Highway 69 South in Greenville.
Jaime Donegan is again the director for this year’s production, proceeds from which will go to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Texas, to fund the construction of an outdoor learning center at the Reecy Davis Recreation Center, 4320 Lee Street in Greenville.
Auditions will be April 3, with the rehearsals April 4-25.
The Follies is a fundraiser for community projects which presents musical numbers and comedy sketches featuring a cast made entirely of local residents. The Follies began in 1987 and is now conducted every two years. There have been 16 shows which have raised more than $600,000 for local non-profit organizations.
