GREENVILLE — The lack of recent rainfall is continuing to raise the threat of grass and wild fires in the area.
The Texas Forest Service has listed Hunt County under "high" fire danger conditions today, up from moderate conditions the past few days. Rockwall and Collin counties and the western portions of Kaufman County were also listed under the elevated fire level as of this morning.
The National Weather Service forecast is calling for sunny and hot today, with a high near 100 degrees. If it reaches that mark, it will be the fourth straight day of triple digit temperatures in Greenville.
There is also an "orange" level air quality alert in place for today, due to the increased levels of ozone.
