GREENVILLE —
Local law enforcement officers dealt with an unusually violent summer weekend, making 19 arrests for assaults, seven of which allegedly involved weapons and with five others connected to family violence.
Officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to 227 calls between Friday morning and Sunday night, took 23 people into custody and filed 56 reports.
The arrests included four people for aggravated assault. A 30 year-old Greenville woman was arrested early Friday for allegedly attempting to stab someone in the chest, a 47 year-old local man was arrested early Friday for attempting to cut someone with a pocket knife, two local men were arrested Saturday evening, one for threatening to shoot another individual and the other for allegedly attacking someone with two hammers.
Five people were arrested for assault causing bodily injury/family violence and one person for assault by contact.
Eight people were arrested for outstanding warrants, two people each for driving while intoxicated and driving while license suspended/invalid and one person each for public intoxication and evading arrest.
Deputies with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 115 calls, took 34 people into custody and filed 26 reports.
The arrests included three people for aggravated assault, six people for assault and two people for robbery.
Other arrests included six people on traffic violations, five people each for outstanding warrants and driving while intoxicated, two people for escape while arrested and one person each for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, burn ban violation, furnishing alcohol to a minor, burglary of a habitation and public intoxication.
