Unless it rains soon, Hunt County could be placed under a ban on outdoor burning sometime this week.
Hunt County Fire Marshal Richard Hill said Friday that the local drought numbers had increased to where a burn ban might be necessary.
“We’re getting very close,” Hill said, adding that he has received the go-ahead from County Judge John Horn to call for an emergency ban if necessary. “He’s leaving it up to me.”
Much of the county was listed under severe drought conditions this weekend.
