Early voting in county closing in on 10,000 ballots

Close to 10,000 early ballots have been cast in Hunt County, ahead of next Tuesday’s elections.

Hunt County Elections Administator Mina Cook said her office tallied another 1,073 early ballots Tuesday; including 941 cast in person, with 109 ballots by mail received, eight limited ballots and 15 military ballots.

A limited ballot is accepted when a voter may be registered in a different county than the one in which they are voting. In that case, the voter is only allowed to vote in those contests which apply to the county or district in which they are registered and which are also on the Hunt County ballots, such as the race for United States president. Those ballots are counted separately on election day and added to the overall total.

A total of 9,724 early ballots have been cast so far.

Early voting for the November 6 general election, and a handful of other elections, will continue through Friday at the Hunt County Voter Administration Office, 2217 Washington Street in downtown Greenville.

Early voting hours will be expanded to between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. today and Thursday.

Early voting will take place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday.

Those needing addtional information can call the Voter Administration Office at 903-454-5467 or go online at www.huntcounty.net/VoterReg/voter.htm.
