GREENVILLE — A young boy was killed Monday evening after being struck by a vehicle near Caddo Mills.
A memorial ceremony for Brandon Ivy, 8, is scheduled in Caddo Mills this evening.
The accident was reported at around 5:30 p.m. Monday. Personnel from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, Caddo Mills fire department and emergency medical units were dispatched to report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at 4294 FM 36 South.
The Texas Department of Public Safety later confirmed that it was a fatality accident.
Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said Ivy was running across the highway, chasing his dog, when he was struck by a pickup at the location. Ivy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Those wishing to participate in the memorial are being asked to meet at 6:45 p.m. on the bank parking lot in Caddo Mills. Those attending are asked to hang signs with the number 6, Ivy's football jersey number, and bring ribbon, tape and scissors.
There was no word as of this morning concerning funeral arrangements.
