County Tax Office to be open five days a week again

GREENVILLE — Hunt County residents will soon be able to again pay their taxes five days a week.

Newly elected Hunt County Tax Assessor/Collector Randy Wineinger said his office will return to its previous schedule once he takes office.

“Effective January 2, it is going to be open 8 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday,” Wineinger said.

The office switched to a schedule of being open between 7 a.m. until 5:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday in October 2008, after a committee which had been researching whether county offices should switch to four-day weeks as a cost-saving measure recommended the change to the Hunt County Commissioners Court.

Wineinger, who was elected to the office in the Nov. 6 general election, said the change back to five days a week will be for both the main Hunt County Tax Office at 2500 Stonewall Street in Greenville, as well as the office at 112 East Main in Quinlan.

“It is to better serve the people of Hunt County, just like I said during the campaign,” Wineinger said.

Even though the offices will be closing at 4:45 p.m. weekdays, Wineinger said the employees will be on duty until 5 p.m. in order to complete each days’s receipts.
