With storms approaching, City of Greenville reminding residents to sign up for CodeRed

GREENVILLE — The approaching severe weather season is a great time to remind citizens to sign up for the CodeRED Weather Warning System to receive warning of severe weather events from the National Weather Service.

Signing up is easy and takes less than one minute.  Citizens can sign up online by visiting the website at: www.ci.greenville.tx.us/codered.  Notifications can be received through a land line, cell phone or text message and all information remains confidential.  CodeRED never shares or

sells the information provided.

When the National Weather Service issues a severe weather alert for the Greenville area, the CodeRED system will call all of the telephone numbers registered to relay important weather information. The call shows up as an unknown toll-free number on Caller ID. Although many

people do not answer telephone numbers they do not recognize, it is a good idea to answer calls during times when severe weather occurs.

Citizens without Internet access that wish to sign up, may call the City Manager’s Office at 903- 457-3116 or visit the W. Walworth Harrison Public Library for assistance.

CodeRED Weather Warning is an important tool in knowing when severe weather is in the area.  It is also important to tune into local news and radio stations and Internet broadcasts to stay informed of how weather conditions can impact our community.

For more information, contact the City Manager’s Office at 903-457-3116.
