County notes another surge of early voting

GREENVILLE — Friday saw another surge of people casting early ballots ahead of the November 6 elections in Hunt County.

If the current pace keeps up, the all-time local record for early voting would appear to be in jeopardy.

There are two opportunities for early voting in Hunt County this weekend.

Hunt County Elections Administrator Mina Cook said another 1089 people voted by personal appearance Friday, with 51 ballots by mail received. Five limited ballots were submitted and one military early vote was turned in.

The 1,159 early ballots tallied Friday brings the total to 6,450 early ballots cast through the first five days of the early voting period.

Early voting for the elections began Monday and will continue through next Friday, November 2 at the Hunt County Voter Administration Office, 2217 Washington Street in downtown Greenville. Extended early voting has been scheduled at the office between 8 a.m. and noon today and between 1 and 5 p.m. Sunday.

Early voting will also take place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday — and will be expanded to between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday — of next week.
