GREENVILLE —
A Fannin County man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of destroying mail inside the Pecan Gap Post Office.
According to an announcement issued by U.S. Attorney John M. Bales, John Robert Manseau, 25, of Honey Grove entered the plea Friday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Amos Mazzant.
Manseau admitted to breaking into the Pecan Gap Post Office on June 24, 2011, and then to have vandalized the office and destroyed and rifled through mail that belonged to approximately 40 individuals.
Manseau was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 9 and faces up to three years in federal prison at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set.
The case is being investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard J. Johnson.
