The organization passed the Greenville Christian and Crockett Elementary School first graders, who are now in third with a total of 1,924 pounds of food donated.

Dawn James, president of the Altrusa Club in Greenville, said she is happy her organization has donated and looks forward to more donations in the future.

“We truly believe that hunger in Hunt County is tremendous,” she said. “And along with helping FISH every month, we have stepped up for the food drive this time.”

The Lions Club of Greenville came in second with a donation of 2,310 pounds.

“Our motto is ‘We serve,’” Renee Francey, president of the Lions Club said. “I feel like it’s our duty and responsibility as a service organization to help provide for those in their time of need.”

Making a donation on Wednesday, Redeemer Lutheran Church of Greenville is currently in fourth place in the food drive with 373 total pounds donated.

Dropping one slot is Mighty North Greenville but still with an impressive total of 162 pounds of food donated. A total of 7,275 pounds of food was donated during the second week of the food drive, raising the total pounds donated to 11,446.
