GREENVILLE —
Two local men have been indicted on armed robbery charges, in connection with a reported home invasion last month in Greenville.
The indictments against Damontreous Deuntay Williams and Payton Ryan Loya were among more than 60 charges issued Friday by the Hunt County grand jury. Many of the indictments returned dealt with alleged robberies or reported violent assaults, including a indictment filed against a Lone Oak man who earlier this month accused jailers of assaulting him.
A Rowlett man was indicted in connection with the alleged robbery of a couple in June.
And two Greenville men were alleged to have threatened family members, including each other, with a hammer and a firearm last month.
In all, the grand jury handed up 64 indictments Friday, including 17 charges issued sealed pending the arrest and indictment of the person or persons hamed in the documents.
— Williams, 28, and Loya, 20, both of Greenville, each received one indictment for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
Williams also received one count each of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit other felony and unauthorized use of a vehicle and assault causing bodily injury. The indictments allege Loya acted alongside Williams, who was arrested at around 12:30 p.m. August 11 and was alleged to have forced his way into a home, to have held a gun to the head of a female victim while in the course of committing a theft and to have stolen the victim’s vehicle.
The indictments also indicate William Larson was convicted of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in 1993.
— Mickey Trent Reed, 27, of Lone Oak, received one indictment for aggravated assault by threatening the use of a deadly weapon. Reed was alleged in the indictment to have used a shotgun to threaten a female victim on August 28, 2011. An internal investigation is reported to be underway into claims that employees of the Hunt County Jail beat a shackled Reed earlier this month. Reed’s family members allege he was attacked September 4 by jailers as he was being transported from state district court back to the jail.
Sheriff Randy Meeks has said an internal investigation is underway to determine whether any criminal actions occurred. Reed has a trial scheduled September 24 on a charge of evading arrest. Reed is also facing federal charges after he was indicted in connection with an alleged methamphetamine distribution ring operating in the Greenville area.
— Andrew Scott Oshel, 20, of Rowlett , received one indictment for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. According to a complaint filed by the Greenville Police Department, officers were dispatched to a report of a robbery at gunpoint, near the intersection of Interstate 30 and Business Highway 69, at around 8 p.m. June 29. A couple who were the alleged victims offered a description of an individual who they claimed used a handgun to demand the man’s wallet, as well as the car the suspect was driving. Oshel was reported to have later admitted to the robbery in a written statement to investigators.
— William Arther Larson Jr., 43, and Robert Michael Larson, 37, both of Greenville, each received two indictments for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/family violence. William Larson was alleged to have threatened Robert Larson, and also a female victim, with a hammer on August 4. Robert Larson was alleged to have used a pistol to threaten William Larson and another female victim on the same date.
