GREENVILLE —
The City Council could vote Tuesday to pay its share of the salaries of the two Greenville Police Department Student Service Officers.
The Greenville Independent School District Board of Trustees agreed last month to renew the interlocal agreement with the City of Greenville, and the Council gets its turn during Tuesday’s regular agenda, starting at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street.
A work session is also scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Under the agreement, last renewed two years ago, the city and the school district each pay a little more than $84,000, one-half of the salaries and benefits for the two school resource officers.
Currently, Greenville Independent School District Officers Richard Calender and James Hamilton serve in that capacity.
The officers, alongside Sergeant Dan Cooper, are also involved in implementing the police department’s Summer of Safety programs, which this year included Skating Friday, Fishing Friday, Swimming Friday, Movie Friday, the Kids Camp and the Teen Police Academy.
