High fire danger expected again Saturday

GREENVILLE — Hunt County is already under a high risk of fires today, according to the Texas Forest Service.

Tha National Weather Service is also issuing an advisory, warning of the potential risk of fires Saturday, due to the high winds expected with the cold front entering North Texas overnight:

Gusty north-northeast winds 15 to 25 mph are expected behind the cold front on Saturday. Despite temperatures being 15 to 20 degrees cooler, the winds, low humidity, and dry grasses across parts of the area will lend to an increased potential for grass fires on Saturday. Be extremely cautious when welding outdoors or camping. Refrain from throwing burning cigarette butts out of moving cars or on the ground in general, as they can start wildfires.
