Meeting demand

Wally Jeffers, the executive director of the Hunt County Shared Ministries (FISH), said that donations have been on the rise this month, but he said that more than ever before are needed this year.

“We have had an increase in donations but it’s going out the door faster than we can get them in,” he said. “We have the highest hunger population in Northeast Texas who are living hunger insecure, so we’ve been slammed every day.”

Jeffers said FISH gets most of its resources from the North Texas Food Bank, which he said has been running dry of late.
