GROESBECK, Texas (AP) — A 5-year-old boy died after being shot while playing with an older child at a home in Limestone County.
Sheriff Dennis Wilson identified the victim as James Ryan Bates.
Wilson says the shooting Thursday, allegedly by an 8-year-old boy, is being reviewed as an accident.
Wilson says the victim was dead at the scene at a home near Groesbeck. An autopsy has been ordered.
The sheriff says the boys are not related. Two adults were home at the time of the shooting, but neither is related to the children.
