ROYSE CITY — Cedar Park Vista Ridge handed the Greenville Lions a 74-61 loss on Thursday in the Royse City tournament.
“They were very disciplined,” said Lions coach Marcus Smith. “Pretty good on both ends on the floor. They played solid defense. They got a lot of defensive rebounds. For us, defensively we’re still a little slow.”
Marquis Taylor fired in 27 points to lead the Lions and all scorers with 27 points, while Dartannon Wilson tossed in 12 and Jamar Clark added 10.
Greenville, now 1-5 for the season, will next play Dallas Conrad at 11:30 a.m. today in the tournament.

ROYSE CITY — The Gr eenville Lady Lions dropped two games at the Royse City tournament on Thursday.
Melissa beat the Lady Lions 49-34 in the first game and Dallas Bryan Adams slipped past Greenville 54-47 in the second game.
Maddy Crabtree and Mackenzie Cooper both scored eight points to lead the Lady Lions against Melissa.
Cooper and Elizabeth Rutherford both pumped in 11 points to lead Greenville against Bryan Adams as the Lady Lions dropped to 7-3 for the season.
“We didn’t come focused and we lacked focus,” said Greenville coach Lesa Darst. “We must focus better.”
Greenville plays again at 10 a.m. Saturday in the tournament.

WILLS POINT — A 12-11 edge in the first quarter helped the Quinlan Ford Lady Panthers slip past Alba-Golden, 39-38, in Thursday’s first round of the Wills Point tournament.
Jessika Keeton led Ford with 14 points and Taylor Elrod added 13.
Macie Arrington paced Alba-Golden and all scorers with 17 points.

MERIT — The Bland Lady Tigers downed Sulphur Bluff’s Lady Bears 54-21 Thursday at the 18th annual Bland Invitational tournament.
Jaci Welborn fired in 12 points, while Sara Waidelich pumped in 10 for the Lady Tigers.
The Campbell Indians lost 79-36 to the Sulphur Bluff Bears in the Bland tournament Thursday.
Scotty Green fired in 11 points for Campbell, while Dallas Degarso pumped in nine.
McKinney Christian Academy won 48-44 over the Campbell Lady Indians.
Haley Davidson pumped in 26 points for Campbell, and Sarah Taylor fired in 12.

SAVOY — The Celeste Lady Blue Devils defeated the Detroit Lady Eagles 50-15 Thursday at the Savoy tournament.
Tiffany Crossland fired in 15 points for Celeste, while teammate Morgan Lewis drained 13.

The Celeste Blue Devils won 55-32 over the Detroit Eagles Thursday. Justin Heuber fired in 14 points and Austin Shatto pumped in 13 to lead Celeste.
