Cumby, Lone Oak roll to volleyball victories
Cumby downed Roxton, 25-19, 25-22, 25-8, to win consolation honors in the North Hopkins volleyball tournament in Sulphur Springs on Saturday.
The Lady Trojans also beat Dodd City, 25-11, 25-20, and Sulphur Bluff, 25-11, 25-4, to up their season record to 7-4.
Savanah Neal led Cumby with 29 points in the three matches to go with six aces, 16 kills, 22 assists, four digs and two blocks.
Ashley Anderson added 19 points, six aces, four kills and two digs.
Brittany Seely managed 28 points, seven kills, 20 assists and four digs.
Kailee Sartin contributed 13 points, two kills and three digs.
Laura Oviedo added five points, 10 kills and seven digs.
Valerie Partridge chipped in seven points, three aces, two assists and four digs.
Cumby plays Trenton at home on Friday, starting at 4:30 p.m.
Lone Oak rolled to a 26-24, 25-23, 25-19 non-district volleyball victory over Miller Grove on Friday.
Melanie Brand led the Lady Buffs with six kills, four digs and one block.
Ashton Hale managed nine digs and 12 assists.
Alsyon Hicks served for six points.
Chelsea Lyday added 12 points, four kills and five digs.
Jessi Holt chipped in seven points and nine digs.
Lindsey Patton had one kill, one block and a gid.
Erica Caughlan added four digs and Rachel Hammons finished with three digs.
