Monster Ball golf tourney set for this week
Another big field of golfers is expected for the Second Annual Monster Ball Craig Bowers Memorial Golf Tournament this week in Greenville.
The first tournament last August had enough two-player teams to fill six flights. Kevin Bowers, one of the tournament organizers, said he’s expecting about the same number of golfers. The tournament’s been moved up to June this year. -
University volleyball squad announces sixth signing
Texas A&M University-Commerce head volleyball coach Craig Case recently announced the signing of Li’i Etimani, who will join the Lion volleyball program this fall.

Lovejoy claims top honors in 13-4A softball
Lucas Lovejoy’s state finalists grabbed several of the top honors on the All-District 13-4A softball team.
Lovejoy pitcher Brittany Lewis earned the most valuable player award, while her teammate Jaclyn Willis was the freshman of the year and the Lovejoy staff claimed the coaching staff of the year honor.
Royse City senior catcher Kyla Simmons, who has signed with Abilene Christian University, claimed defensive player of the year honors. -
Commerce, Lone Oak players earn 14-2A top honors
Players from Commerce and Lone Oak earned top honors on the All-District 14-2A girls softball team.
Commerce freshman Jordyn Sharp shared the most valuable player award with Edgewood sophomore Kasandra Young.
Lone Oak sophomore Kaylee Isenburg captured the utility MVP award. -
Celeste honors athletes
Football player Braden Morrow was among the top honorees at the Celeste All-Sports Banquet.
Morrow claimed the most valuable player award for football. -
Three Cumby athletes sign with colleges
Three Cumby seniors will continue their athletic careers after signing letters of intent.
Karli Emmons and Luis Osornio are headed to Clarendon College in the Texas Panhandle and Kayla Akers has signed with Schreiner University in Kerrville. -
Greenville's Koger earns first-team honors
Greenville catcher Justin Koger represented the Lions on the first team of the All-District 13-4A baseball team.
Koger was the Lions’ only first-team selection.
Greenville pitcher Luke Dyer made the second team. -
White team outscores Red in Lions' spring game
T.J. Hughes kicked field goals of 37 and 30 yards to give the White team a 20-14 victory over the Red in the Greenville Lions’ spring football game on Thursday night at T.A. “Cotton” Ford Stadium.
Hughes put the White team ahead for good with the 37-yarder with 8:06 remaining and then added the 30-yarder after Jeremy Myers-Wise’s 7-yard touchdown run was called back because of a holding penalty. - More Sports Headlines
