4 large sweet yellow onions, thinly sliced
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups cider vinegar
1 1/2 cups water
3 tsp. salt
1 cup (8 oz.) sour cream
3 Tbsp. mayonnaise
1/4 tsp. celery seed
Place the onions in a large bowl. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water and salt. Bring to a boil; pour over onions. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Drain onions, discarding liquid. In a bowl, combine
the sour cream, mayonnaise, celery seed; mix well.
Add onions and toss to coat. Yield: 6 cups
