GREENVILLE —
Herald-Banner Publisher Lisa Chappell shares this recipe for rock candy.
3 ¾ cups pf sugar
1 ½ cups of Karo Syrup
1 cup of water
Flavored oils (variety)
Powdered Sugar
Mix Sugar, water and Karo well with wooden spoon
Cook on high until it reaches 300 degrees.
Quickly remove from stove and add bottle of flavored oil of your choice.
Cover large baking sheet with powdered sugar, pour hot candy mixture on to baking sheet, pour thin over entire pan.
When cool enough to handle, cut in strips; twist and cut into small pieces. Twist quickly as the pieces will harden as they cool.
The variety of oils give a multi-colored batch of candies that looks great as a gift.
